The Enugu State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, kicked off its process of e-legislation with the official launching of its website.

According to Daily Post, the website was donated to the Assembly by SAVI, under the DFID programme and is the first of its kind in the South-East.

In a speech delivered by Hon. Eugene Odoh, Speaker Enugu state house, he described it as a dream come true, which according to him would make the lawmakers more responsible and alive to their responsibilities.

According to him, “with the advent of the website thus embarking on e-legislation, we must be conscious of the fact that we are now under public surveillance and the world can now use this platform to asses us.

“This noble project will also assist us and our staff in data collation, processing and information dissemination”.

The Chairman of the Committee of the House of Information, Hon. John Ukuta disclosed that the website contained interactive tool that would allow the electorates ask their representatives certain questions.

Ukuta said the lawmakers, who had all been connected to the facility were expected to respond to such question at least within 48 hours depending on their work schedule.
