Gov. Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, while swearing in the 17 local government chairmen in the state on Saturday has pledged his support for the socio-economic and political programmes of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“We pledge our loyalty as a party to President Jonathan to support him and his programmes. We will continue to identify with him.

“If and when the president declares his interest to run as president in 2015, he should count Enugu State as one of the states that he will campaign because we are solidly behind him.

“APC will definitely not come to our state. He should not panic,’’ he said.

The governor also urged other members of the party who reside outside the state, especially those in the National Assembly, to work together with the structure at home to attain victory in the 2015 general elections.

“This is an election year. We will be nominating candidates for the 2015 general elections. So it is time for our brothers and sisters outside the state to come back home and relate with the people at the grassroots.

“We are one big family. Whatever problem we have should be solved at home,’’ he said.

The governor charged the new council chairmen to consolidate and improve on the achievements of their predecessors.

He urged them to run an all-inclusive government and embark on people-oriented projects.

Chime commended the outgoing chairmen for their contributions to the state, saying that they had paved the way for their successors.

“I charge the new chairmen to deliver quality services to the people. You must not embark on projects based on personal gains or interests but the ones that will benefit the people.
