Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Samuel Eto’o on a one-year deal,from Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
The club this afternoon announced that the Cameroonian has reached a deal to join them,after successfully passing his medicals.
”I am very happy to be here but also anxious because I want to get playing as soon as possible,” Eto’o said on the club’s website.
“It wasn’t a hard decision. I saw the qualities Chelsea have, and I was very happy with Jose Mourinho before, so when the opportunity came, I was very happy to take it,” he added.
The four-time African Player of the Year winner,joins alongside former teammate Willian from Anzhi,after the Russian looked to cut down on expenses and selling off their big stars.
It is understood that the 32-year old will get an extension to the deal,depending on his performances this season.
Though the details of his contract was not disclosed,Eto’o will take a massive pay-cut from his previous €20m a year, and will now earn €6m .
