Sports Euro 2016 qualifiers: Hiddink leaves out Van Der Vaart from Netherlands squad

Netherlands coach, Guus Hiddink has left out Rafael van der Vaart from the Netherlands squad that will face Kazakhstan and Iceland in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

The former Real Madrid player was not part of the Louis van Gaal team for the 2014 summer World Cup in Brazil due to injury but hasn't been recalled by new boss Guus Hiddink, despite recovering from a calf injury.

Meanwhile,Fenerbahce forward Dirk Kuyt has announced his retirement from international football, which Hiddink confirmed while naming his squad on Friday.

"I wanted to give Kuyt a call-up, but we spoke on the phone and he said that he would retire from international football. Since we're playing 4-3-3 again, he's not in the picture for the defensive roles. For the attacking positions there are other players who have an advantage on him. Kuyt didn't want to be the third or fourth in line, so that also had influence on his decision."
