Everton condemns Mourinho to first Chelsea defeat

Jose Mourinho and his team were made to endure a frustrating evening at Goodison Park,as Everton secured a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
It was the first win for Roberto Martinez as coach of Everton, having previously drawn his first three games.
Both teams were lively and Chelsea had the first real chance at goal, but wasted the opportunity.
Debutant, Samuel Eto’o had a glorious chance after a howler from the Everton keeper,Tim Howard whose misplaced pass fell to Andre Schurrle and the German squared the ball to Eto’o but a last ditch block from Gareth Barry denied the Cameroonian a debut goal.
But prior to that chance,Everton had their moments with Jelavic occupying Chelsea’s back four and Ross Barkley looking menacing.
Ramires at the other end forced Howard to a great save, pulling a shot which was parried out by the American.
With just one minute to the end of the first half,a composed move by Everton in Chelsea’s final third resulted in a cross to Jelavic at the far post, and he headed the ball to an unmarked Steven Naismith to head Everton 1-0 up .
Chelsea responded with a couple of changes in the second half throwing on Lampard and Oscar in the 57th minute, with Torres joining the action in the 69th minute but Everton held on.
Leighton Baines came close to doubling the tally hitting the bar late on from a freekick.
Defeat for Chelsea was their first in the Premier League under Mourinho during his second spell at the club.
“We had 21 shots…but a team who has chances like that and doesn’t take them deserves to lose,” Mourinho said after the game.
