Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has reiterated his administration’s resolve to create new council areas in the state before handing over to the Governor- elect, Ayodele Fayose, on October 16, 2014.
Fayemi said that the creation of local council development areas, LCDAs, would “help realise one of the most fervent demands of our people since this government came into place.”
The governor, who spoke yesterday while receiving the report of the Local Government Creation Committee headed by Justice Akin Ajakaye, said his government would adhere strictly to the provision of law in creating new councils by taking necessary steps, including subjecting it to referendum by State Independent Electoral Commission and eventual ratification at the state House of Assembly.
