The FCT Minister, Senator Bala Mohammed has fallen victim to a fraudster with special skills in cloning phone numbers, using it to perpetrate large scale fraud in the process.
The Minister fell into the fraudulent hands of one Ibrahim Sabo Takat, a resident of Wuye district in Abuja, who used the Minister’s cloned number to call several people and used it as a means to give orders in place of the Minister.
Takat ordered the Chief of Staff of the Minister to pay the sum of N3 million into Takat’s own account domiciled with Diamond Bank, posing as the Minister who had given the order.
Takat was apprehended when Minister reported the case to security agencies after it was discovered that the Minister had not authorised his Chief of Staff to pay in that amount of money.
The fraudster was arrested and paraded around by Ibrahim Halilu on behalf of the DSS Director FCT Command. The public was warned to be csreful with their phones and be cautious with those they reveal their numbers to.
