The FCT Primary Health Care Development Board reported to the public of its achievement of a reportedly 95 per cent coverage in the immunisation of immunised residents of the FCT aged one to 29 years against meningitis.
This information was given by the Executive Secretary of the board, Dr Rilwanu Mohammed.
Although the immunisation exercise reached a recorded 95 per cent of the population, there are still many who were unable to receive the vaccine due to shortage of supply.
He said the months of January to April have been reported to peak periods where the disease spreads and urged Nigerians to avoid overcrowding as that was a main means the disease could be spread.
