Students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Akure (FECA), Ondo State trooped to the streets in protest over the rape of three female colleagues by some hoodlums, allegedly led by a part time student of the institution, who had invaded the university in the early hours of Tuesday morning. The students had demanded the arrest of the hoodlums and the Chief Security Officer of the institution.

The Fiwasaye/Owo road was blocked by the students in protest, ensuring gridlock for several hours. The irate students also molested motorists and okada men, causing havoc and unrest in the location.

According to the student union leader, Oladapo Akindami, students were alerted by noise from the female hostel. They later discovered that two of the students had been raped, and the thris had been molested with cuts all over her body. Two other students had been injured when the rapists had tried to overpower them. The victims were rushed to the General Hospital.

One of the hoodlums had been apprehended and taken to the security post, where the Chief Security Officer had put him in an open room, instead of a closed cell, and he had later escaped.

The protester are calling for the arrest and prosecution of the CSO and hoodlums involved.
