Business FG appoints new Chairman for Transmission Company of Nigeria

The Federal Government on Tuesday in a statement signed by Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation announced that Mr Ibrahim Waziri has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), since Dec. 24.

It said that Waziri, who holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and an MBA from the University of Lagos, served as a non-executive Director of First Bank of Nigeria.

The statement said Waziri also served as a member of the Federal Government Technical Committee on Expenditure Review that advised the government on enhancing value of overhead expenditure and reducing waste in government spending.

It said that Waziri attended various local and International trainings and conferences, including the famous University Executive Management Programme, the Harvest University Advanced Management Programme and the Oxford University Advance Management Programme.

“He was Group Executive Director, Corporate Service at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) between 2003 and 2009 and is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School,’’ the statement said.
