The Federal Government on Thursday gave N3m in cheques to families of the polio workers who were killed during immunisation.
The compensation was presented by the Kano state governor, Gov Rabi’u Kwankwaso who described the workers as heroes who sacrificed their lives to protect the communities against polio.
He assured that the attack would not prevent the government from working hard to eradicate polio and he requested the cooperation of the people.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that gunmen on Feb. 8, opened fire at the female immunisation personnel at Shargalle and Hotoro Haye Health Centres in two separate attacks.
