Minister of state for education, Barrister Ezenwo Wike while speaking in Abuja on Thursday said different interventionist programmes were being formulated to address the 10.5 million Nigerian children who are out of school.

According to him, the FG started out with the Almajiri Education programme because the Almajiri children constituted over 9 million of the 10.5 million out-of-school children.

He said that since they have been able to attain a level of success with the Almajiri programme, focus is being put on the issue of the boy-trader of the south-east and south-south.

He stated that by September, most of the Almajiri and girl-child schools will begin to operate and agreement has been reached by the FG and the state government on how to sustain the schools when they begin operations.
