Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has announced that the federal government is rehabilitating the moribund International Radio Monitoring Stations, IRMS, systems nationwide to counter any radio or internet broadcast capable of undermining the country’s national security.
The IRMS facilities are located in Azare in Bauchi State, Gusau in Zamfara State, Ipaja in Lagos State and Ogoja in Cross River State.
FG is focusing its efforts on “illegal radio broadcast” by Boko Haram, Niger Delta Avengers and Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Shittu said.
