Entertainment Filmhouse Cinemas Throws a Challenge to Silverbird

In a bid to increase its number of outlets by opening 15 new cinemas from December 2014, the management of Filmhouse Cinemas has thrown an open challenge to Silverbird Cinemas and other cinemas in the country.

According to the co-founder and Managing Director of Filmhouse Cinemas, Kene Mkparu, the plan is to set up five new cinemas before the end of December 2014, 10 more by 2015 and about 4 outlets annually from 2016 onwards.

The Filmhouse Cinemas boss made the disclosure during the recently concluded Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) as he also revealed the company's new deal with African Capital Alliance (ACA).

He revealed that ACA is investing a part of its third fund (CAPE III), a $400 million private equity fund.
Mkparu noted that despite Nigeria having one of the largest film industries in the world the cinema space is largely untapped.
