Metro First female head of service in Oyo dies at 88

Mrs. Tejumade Alakija, the first female head of service in Oyo state has died following a brief illness. She was 88.

She was born to the family of the late ooni of Ife on May 17, 1925. She attended Aiyetoro Primary and Central Schools,
Ile-Ife as well as Kudeti
Girls’ School, Molete, Ibadan.

She had a B.A honours in history from Westfield
College, University of London, England. She later went to Oxford
University for a post graduate degree in Education.

She is most renowned for founding the Anglican Girls' grammar school in Ijebe Ode and also for serving as Head of service in the Old Oyo state being the first female to occupy that position.
