The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan has attributed the successful burial of her mother, Madam Charity Oba, and the security of those who attended the ceremony to God. This was during a thanksgiving service at the Aso Villa Chapel, State House.

''I thank God that everyone who attended my mother’s burial rites arrived in Rivers safely and returned to their homes safely.

''The island of Okrika played host to such a huge number of people that I became apprehensive and hoped that the island would not sink,'' she joked.

Meanwhile, users of the Abuja-Lokoja road were struck in a grid-lock lasting for hours on Sunday. This was due to the blockage of one of the two lanes on Murtala Mohammed bridge. The problem was further compounded by the breakdown of a truck on a free lane and the impatience of the road users.
