According to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), thirteen villages in seven local government areas in Jigawa State have been hit by hailstones and flood. The Executive Secretary of SEMA, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Waziri, said the flood started last week and has rendered hundreds of people homeless and destroyed farm lands and houses. Gwiwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State also experienced hail stones.
He also stated that the agency has commenced the distribution of relief materials.
The Executive Secretary blamed the floods on the refusal of local governments to clear the drainages in their domains.
