The North Eastern States of Nigeria, particularly Yobe and Borno States have been hit by a food crisis where the activities of Boko Karam have brought the Federal Government’s irrigation and chain of food production at the Lake Chad basin to a halt.

Food prices have increased by over 100 per cent. The Federal Government has had to subsidise food prices and open up the strategic rice and grain reserves to meet up with the required supply needed, especially for the Sallah celebration last week.
