Former ASUU President 'Festus Iyayi' Buried without Fanfare,Edo State makes Plans to Immortalize Him

On Saturday,Prof. Festus Iyayi, former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) was buried in his hometown, at Ugbegun in Esan Central local government area of Edo State.

The burial ceremony was solemn and devoid of fanfare.

Dignitaries present at the burial ceremony include Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Senator Abubakar Bagudu who represented the Senate;National Electoral Commission (INEC) and former ASUU President, Prof. Attahiru Jega; Professor Abhulimen Anao, former Vice Chancellor, UNIBEN; Chief Medical Director, UBTH, Prof. Michael Ibadin; ASUU President, Dr. Nasir Fagge; Dr. Dipo Fashina, former ASUU President, Odia Ofeimu; Dr. Ogaga Ifowodo; Dr. Osagie Obayuwana and members of the UNIBEN community.

Meanwhile, the Edo state government has promised to rebuild and rename the Ugbegun Grammar School after the late ASUU chief. Governor Oshiohole also said that a water scheme will be constructed at Ugbegun and named after the late Iyayi.
