Sports Free fall: Nigeria slump down four places in the FIFA ranking

Nigeria's Super Eagles have plummeted four places in the monthly FIFA ranking and are now ranked 37th in the whole world.

The Super Eagles have also been overtaken on the continent, now ranked the sixth team in Africa.

Nigeria was previously ranked 33rd in the world,3rd in Africa, but a series of poor results have seen them go down the log.

Ghana and Senegal have all overtaken Nigeria on the table after achieving impressive results in the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria had a poor outing this month in the qualifiers, failing to win any of the two qualifiers they played against Congo and South Africa.

The defending Champions of the Nations Cup have only just one point after the two games and are now in danger of not defending their title unless they turn around their qualifiers.

Congo who stunned Nigeria with a 3-2 defeat in Calabar, moved up an astronomical 30 places up in the rankings.

There were also other impressive moves up in the table. Cape Verde climbed up 33 places, and also Cameroon who moved up 12 places from their previous position and are now 42nd in the world,8th in Africa.

Meanwhile, the top two positions in the world remain unchanged,Germany and Argentina are still first and second.

Colombia have leapfrogged the Netherlands in third position, and Belgium still unchanged in fifth position.
