Mr Osita Chidoka, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), on Friday, called off a scheduled news conference in honour of late Dr Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, the Deputy Corps Marshal, Operations, who announced the suspension of the event, explained that it was in line with the 3-day mourning declared by the Federal Government.

He said the Supervising Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Viola Onwuliri, visited Chidoka on Friday and impressed it on him to suspend the activity, in line with government’s decision.

The suspended briefing was intended to enlighten journalists on the commission's forthcoming 2013 Annual Lecture, billed for Dec. 11.

Mr John Mahama, the President of Ghana, was expected to be the guest speaker at the lecture.
