The Galaxy Note 6 Edge’s wraparound Edge display and asymmetric shape makes it feel so different to the average Smartphone user and it requires some degree of mastering to get a hang of it. Most of the curved portions of the Note 6 Edge’s screen are used to display apps and widgets, thereby creating a means of communication. The Note 6 Edge a well-designed, intelligent smart mobile device with a unique screen and shape that provides its users an innovative way of communicating with it.

Design

The right side of the Note 6 Edge’s screen is very similar to a glossy Waterfall and this feature makes the Note 6 Edge standout in terms of design. The screen has a resolution of 2560 X 1600 pixels and a pixel density of 524 ppi. The screen is made using super AMOLED capacity touch screen technology which lies just beneath the surface. The screen stretches continuously from the left-hand side and then joins the back in a curve, thereby giving one side of this smartphone's back a pointy edge.

What is surprising about the Note 6 Edge is that most users expected that the Note 6 edge would feel uncomfortable because of its uncommon design, but the amazing thing is that you can hold and operate it over an extended period of time. One factor contributing to the comfort of the Note 6 user is the leather-like coating used on the back of the Note 4, and it helps in adding tactile support and improving the quality of your grip. Another uncommon feature of the Note 6 Edge's design, unlike most Samsung devices, is the movement of the Power/lock button from the right side of the body to the top. This shouldn’t be surprising as we all know that the screen is largely responsible for this relocation.

However, the Note 6 Edge screen is a bit smaller than the Note 4; this could largely be attributed to the curvature of the right side of the Note 6 Edge’s Screen.

Samsung’s revolving UI

Samsung created a brand new software to match the Note 6 Edge unique shape and it’s called ’Revolving UI.’ It’s basically a multi-functional home screen that allows you to see your favorite widgets and icons by swiping the home screen. It works like a revolving door, all you need to do is to swipe your screen right until the edge to advance, and it will rotate back to the beginning.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 edge comes with a 16 MP primary camera and a 3.7 MP secondary camera. The primary camera comes with optical image stabilization, LED flash, auto focus, and a resolution of 3456 X 4608 pixels. The primary camera video shoots at 2160@30fps, 1080p@60fps and 720p@120fps which mean you can capture more details during video shoots, depending on the setting you apply. The features of the Camera include: Geo-Tagging, face/smile detection, HDR, simultaneous HD video and image recording, panorama and dual-shot.

Platform

The Galaxy Note 6 Edge runs on the operating system of V4.4.4 (Kitkat) and it’s upgradable to V5.0 (Lollipop). This mobile device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset, a quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450, and an Andreno 420 GPU.

Memory

The internal memory of the Note 6 edge comprises of a 3GB RAM and a 32/64 GB ROM. The external memory can support microSD card up to 128GB.

Battery

Samsung featured a very powerful Li-ion battery on its Galaxy Note 6 edge, and Samsung claims that it’s comparable, at least in performance, to the Galaxy Note 4. The battery of the Galaxy Note 6 will drain pretty quickly if you fail to manage the brightness properly, especially at night. The Note 6 features a Li-ion 3000 mAh battery with a standby talk time up to 18hrs (3G) and can last up to 67hrs while playing music non-stop.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is an amazing digital note cum Smartphone. The good part of the Galaxy note 6 is its unique design, which is simply futuristic and breathtaking. The downside of the Galaxy Note 6 is that it’s pricey, $870 (N171,390), and far more expensive than the Note 4. The bottom line is that it’s a great Smartphone to acquire, whether it’s worth the price it commands, It is left to be seen.
