Gastro Enteritis Kills 5 in Kebbi

A reported outbreak of gastro enteritis has resulted in the deaths of five people in Jega Local Government Area of Kebbi. 20 other victims of this outbreak have also been hospitalised and are currently receiving treatment.

Alhaji Musa Kwaifa, the Director, Primary Health Care Department of the council, said to newsmen: "Out of the 50 cases, 25 have been treated and discharged from the hospital while 20 are on admission receiving necessary medical attention and five have lost their lives."

He also said that health experts and personnel have been deployed to affected areas with the goal to contain the spread of this disease.

Doctors Without Borders, the international humanitarian body of medical practitioners have also been involved and have generously donated their time and resources to aid in the fight against this disease. (NAN)
