FCT- A multinational steel company, ThyssenKrupp AG, is seeking collaboration with the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (ABUCCIMA) to explore investment opportunities in the country, says Mr Koos Smit, the Advisor, Group Representative Office (Southern Africa) of ThyssenKrupp, on Monday in Abuja.

ThyssenKrupp AG, according to him, is one of the world's largest steel producers consisting 670 companies mobilised in 80 countries around the world.

Besides steel production, he said that the company also provides components and systems for the automotive industry, elevators, escalators, material trading and industrial services.

Smit said that he was in the country ``to review investment opportunities’’ in the areas of steel supply, material handling, mining resource technology and industrial services.

He said the visit to ABUCCIMA was part of his engagement with relevant stakeholders, especially members of the business community to explore possible areas of business collaboration.

ABUCCIMA President, Mr Solomon Nyagba, described the country’s mining sector as a virgin land with huge economic opportunities for investors.

Nyagba said Nigeria was blessed with a wide range of huge solid mineral deposits across the six geopolitical zones that could contribute significantly to national development, but the challenge had been lack of technology to optimally exploit the resources.

Nyagba pledged the commitment of ABUCCIMA to provide assistance needed for the company to establish its presence in the country, especially in the solid mineral sector.

Alhaji Sani Shehu, the National President, Miners Association of Nigeria, expressed the readiness of the body to partner with ThyssenKrupp for the mutual benefits to the two countries
