Sports Ghana settles for Avram Grant as its new coach

Avram Grant has been selected as the new coach of the Black Stars of Ghana national team.

What is now left is for him to agree personal terms with the Ghana Football Association(GFA)before he will be unveiled.

The Israeli will be taking over from Kwesi Appiah who stepped down after the first round of the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifiers.

Ghana chose Grant in preference to Juan Ignacio Martinez who was the closest to him in the running for the job.

The former Chelsea and West Ham coach could even commence work as early as next week, taking charge of Ghana 's final qualifying games against Uganda and Togo.

GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said Grant was the preferred candidate amongst the five candidates shortlisted for the game.

“Our preference is Avram Grant on the details of the job requirements and expectations” Nyantakyi said.
