Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state on Wednesday swore-in Alhaji Ahmed Usman as the new Head of Service in the state.

Dankwambo, who also swore-in two Special Assistants at the occasion, said the appointment of Usman became necessary following the retirement of the former Head of Service, Alhaji Aliyu Kamara.

He said that the appointment of the new Head of Service was based on seniority, merit and proven ability.

"As one of the longest serving Permanent Secretaries, the new head of service is a seasoned administrator, who, we trust, will follow the footsteps of his predecessor to maintain a disciplined and dedicated Civil Service,'' Dankwambo said.

He commended the former head of service for his effort in conducting regular meetings with Permanent Secretaries and Directors to ensure effective implementation of policies.

The governor also praised him for organising regular training workshops for all cadre of the civil service, aimed at rejuvenating the service.

Dankwambo said that the appointment of the Special Advisers, Hannatu Ibrahim and Mohammed Damji, was based on their dedication and record of achievements, commitment, transparency and trustworthiness.

The governor urged the civil servants and people in the state to support the new Head of Service and the Special Advisers, to ensure success during their tenure in office.

He also called on the people to live in peace with one another irrespective of their ethnic or religious backgrounds.
