Mrs Josephine Elechi, the wife of Gov. Martin Elechi of Ebonyi, on Wednesday advised widows to shun extra-marital affairs and care adequately for their children.
According to her, the increasing cases of pregnancy among widows are sources of concern to the society and all hands should be on deck to check the trend.
“Widows who cannot control their desires should re-marry instead of getting pregnant outside wedlock and compounding their problems.
“One can imagine how difficult it is for women whose husbands are alive, not to talk of those whose husbands are dead,” she said.
Elechi also called on widows and women to stop indulging in negative activities such as intake of hard drugs, child trafficking and sale.
The guest speaker at the occasion, Rev. Father Felix Akam, called on widows to face the reality of widowhood and stop banking on illusions of life.
