Gov. Wamakko Releases N657m Scholarship Grant for 349 Sokoto Indigenes to Study Abroad

Gov. Aliyu Wamakko has according to a statement issued by Isa Shuni, the Information Officer of the State Scholarship Board in Sokoto on Tuesday, approved over N657m for the sponsorship of 349 indigenes of the state to undertake various science courses in Bangladesh, India and Uganda.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries would undergo courses both at undergraduate and post graduate levels.

It quoted the chairman of the board, Alhaji Jelani Kalgo as saying that ``the money would cover tuition, registration fees, accommodation, transportation and other daily needs for the 2014/2015 academic session''.

The statement listed the institutions to include: Islamic University of Uganda, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, India, and International Islamic University in Bangladesh.

In a related development, the governor has also approved over N19 million as scholarship grant to 75 students pursuing degree programmes in Niger Republic and at the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
