Welcome to Las Vegas, the city where whatever happens in it, stays in it (though no one would tell me why.) What is Las Vegas without the showgirls? Nothing. The answer is 'nothing.'

That is why, true to its name, there were two showgirls wearing blue ostrich feathers (is that even legal?) and standing outside CES, as cold as Sin City is this week.

Business Insider says that their names are Michelle Greider and Kaleigu Hamner, and guess what their business is? Selfieshness.

In a world increasingly characterized by selfies all over social media (selfies are photographs of yourself, grand-dad), these girls are getting paid for doing it. Legend has it that they will allow you take a photo with them if you can pay.

The math is simple. Tech geeks who find it embarrassingly difficult to go out, have a good time and snag an unsuspecting girlfriend visit CES and -wow!- women who will take a photo with you. And they're gorgeous! And there's two of them!

Hamner says they charge $110 a piece and that they each get $500 after only a few hours of work. That's a cool thousand dollars for having photos of yourself taken with people. What's the naira-dollar exchange rate these days? Good lord...

The girls say they like their 'job,' as they get to meet cool people, like schizophrenics and charming billionaires... Sigh.

Of course, there's the occasional drunk guy trying to convince them Nostradamus was his grandfather's cousin - twice removed - but I guess the $500 apiece within three hours has a way of making you more tolerant of your occupational hazards...
