Despite the fact that journalists gathered early enough this Wednesday to witness the handing over of Ese Oruru to her parents, the Police High Command refused to present the girl to her mother who was present at the event before the press, Nigeria Info 99.3 reports.

According to Zoe Chinaka, presenter, journalists were expected to cover the reunion on the 5th floor but the event was eventually held on the 4th floor.

According to the invite earlier sent: “You are invited to cover the reuninon of Ese, with her family members. Venue: Peacekeeping Conference room, FHQ, Abuja.
This left most journalists confused because of the wrong venue that was communicated to them.
The event ended up holding at the 4th floor.

Contrary to the initial plan that the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Solomon Arase will do the handing over of the girl to her parents, it was the Force Spokesperson, ACP Olabisi Kolawole who presided over the event.

She simply read a prepared speech with the title, “Police Re-Unite Ese with Parents”.

After the speech was read, the girl’s mother simply thanked the Press, Police, various interest groups, and Nigerians for their intervention.

Ese was however absent at the event.
