Fresh facts emerged weekend on how Presidency officials in a secret alliance with some influential and powerful chieftains of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), particularly from Adamawa State, secretly planned the return of Bala Ngilari, to replace his impeached boss, former Governor Murtala Nyako.

Information available to Sunday Independent from a dependable source within the Adamawa PDP, revealed that long before Ngilari was proclaimed successor governor by the courts penultimate week, the Presidency and PDP had been working towards aborting the proposed Saturday October 11 governorship bye-election in the state being organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

This paper learnt that while the embattled former acting governor of the state and incumbent State Assembly Speaker, Umaru Fintiri , was scheming to secure the ticket of the party at the September primary in readiness for the ill-fated poll, the Presidency and some members of the PDP, based on informed advise of knowledgeable legal opinions, were working to exploit the constitutional loopholes in the forced resignation of Ngilari. The plan was to ensure Ngilari’s return as governor.
