The NCSCS which is solely funded by the Cameroon government is the country's first submarine cable.

The installation of the marine cable which spans over a length of about 1,100km began in mid-June to provide a direct link between Kribi in Cameroon with Lagos in Nigeria.

The NSCS also incorporates branching units for future connection to Escravos and Qua Iboe in South Eastern Nigeria.
