In April 2023, the Netherlands-based nonprofit Mars One plans to send teams of four people to Mars to colonize and live out the rest of their lives there. About 100,000 people worldwide have applied for the one-way trip.
One of the applicants,Maggie Duckworth, an electrical engineer in St. Louis even said she will want to give birth in Mars instead of Earth.
When the settlement is fully operational and tactical, the crew will depart Earth in September 2022 in a transit habitat.
