Metro Hundreds Allegedly Killed in Cross River Communal Land Dispute

A communal clash over a piece of land in Cross River has claimed scores of lives.

The clash started on Monday. It is between the people of Wanikade and Wanihem in Ukelle North, Yala LGA of the state.

According to an eye-witness, the conflict lasted for about 3 days without the state government batting an eye.

“Close to hundred persons have lost their lives due to land dispute in Ukelle North, Yala LGA”, a resident of the area alleged.

However, the Cross River State Commissioner of Police, CP Hafiz Inuwa said the crisis only claimed on life.

CP Inuwa also said that houses and properties were raided.

“It’s just a little misunderstanding and the matter has been settled with the help of the police and the military”.
