Isa Muazu, an asylum seeker who had been diagnosed with severe mental illness and who also starved himself for three months in protest against deportation as a result of his unfit nature has been deported back to his country of origin, Nigeria.

The 45-year-old had argued to the relevant authorities in the United Kingdom that deportation could mean being killed by Islamist militants in Nigeria. But despite this, all his efforts came to naught as he was denied by the Court of Appeal and the immigration tribunal, blocking his stay in the UK.

In a statement made by the immigration minister, Mark Harper said that Mr Muazu had "no right" to be in the UK and had been "successfully removed".
Muazu had overstayed his visa by more than five years before claiming asylum, and it was discovered that he was "not found to have a genuine need of protection".

The in immigration minister also feared that if Muazu had not been removed from the UK, it would have undermined the asylum and immigration system in the country, providing a leeway for others to follow suit.
