Some well meaning hunters who originally decided to team up with vigilantes to fight against robbers operating in Okunran and Okoloke communities in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State had accidentally shot and killed one vigilante man identified as Abayomi Sunday. They also injured two others identified as Bamidele Olayemi and Dele Asebiobirin. The hunters claimed that they had mistaken the men for robbers.
Unfortunately, Sunday had died instantly due to the bullet he had received in the head, while the two others had sustained serious injuries but had luckily received bullets in the legs and thighs. The injured are currently receiving treatment.
Five of the hunters have been arrested and are currently detained at the Divisional Police Office, Odo-Ere. The sixth suspect is still at large.
