On Monday, Ijaw and Itsekiri youths in Delta state reportedly clashed over a $16billion EPZ project.
DAILY TIMES reported that although details of the clash are still sketchy, sources claim that youths from Madagho, an Itsekiri enclave, allegedly attacked some local security men who were working in the Deep Sea component of the EPZ project. The source said that youths from Gbaramatu, in a reprisal attack had on Monday, burnt two houses in Madagho, thus creating tension of possible backslash between the Ijaw and Itsekiris of Warri South West Council Area.
Community leaders have appealed to the youths to give peace a chance.
