Sports Ikechukwu Uche investigated for match-fixing

According to Spanish newspaper El Mundo,Nigerian international Ikechukwu Uche is a suspect in allegations of match-fixing in a Spanish La Liga.

About 20 players are being investigated for culpability in claims that a match between Real Zaragoza and Levante was fixed in the 2010/2011 football season.

Zaragoza defeated Levante 2-1 on the final day of the season to beat the drop, but there are fears that some of the players who played the game agreed to throw the match.

Already, one of the players who played that game,Atletico Madrid's captain Gabi Fernandez, confessed to a judge that he knew the match was fixed.

“I just did what the club asked me to do,”Gabi who scored both goals for Zaragoza in that 2-1 win, admitted in court.

About 12 Zaragoza players were said to have received a total of 120,000 euros in their bank accounts in the week leading up to the game and that they paid their Levante rivals in cash for throwing the match.

Nigeria's Uche was one of the players who featured in that game and will now await his fate after the investigation
