Rev. Fr. Januarius Chima Ahaneku and Rev. Fr. Marcelinus Nweke of the Catholic Diocese of Ahiara Mbaise in Imo State have employed the use of African magic (juju) and thugs in their battle for control of the St. Brigit’s Catholic Parish, Nnarambia.

According to 247Ureports, the main fight broke out Sunday evening when Rev. Fr. Januarius Chima Ahaneku, in the company of some youths from his former parish came to take over the St. Brigit's parish where he had recently been posted to but the out-going priest, Rev. Fr. Marcelinus Nweke and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Chamberline Irozuru resisted him.

Rev. Fr. Nweke, then invited some thugs to confront Rev. Fr Ahaneku and his youths. A free for all battle involving the use of different weapons then broke out.

Seeing the melee, Rev. Fr Nweke quickly alerted the police who showed up and arrested the youths that had acompanied Rev Fr. Ahaneku.

So far, both priests are yet to comment on the incident.

However, a parishioner who spoke anonymously claimed that the incident is part of the protest by some catholic priests against the appointment of Rev. Fr. Clement Ebii as the Vicar General of the Diocese by the Apostolic Administrator, John Cardinal Onaiyekan.
