Barely 24 hours after the embattled governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-makura boasted that nobody can remove him from office, and urged his loyalists to resist any attempt to impeach him, a member of the state House of Assembly, Muhammad Muluku Aga (PDP Nasarawa Eggon East) narrowly escaped death, as hoodlums attacked and burnt his car.

The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday in Akurba in Lafia Local Government Area of the state. It was gathered that the hoodlums trailed the lawmaker’s driver between Lafia town and Akurba thinking that the lawmaker was inside the vehicle. The driver was said to have left the car on the main road and taken to his heels and when the attackers tried in vain to catch him they came back, ransacked the car and picked some valuable items, before setting it ablaze.

When Daily Sun visited Akurba yesterday morning, those living around the scene of the incident had deserted the area for fear of the unknown while soldiers were seen making some inquiries from the residents who refused to talk to journalists. Muluku Aga, however, could not be reached on phone as he had switched off his handsets.
