On Sunday, Gunmen abducted Igwe Mike Okechukwu of Awgbu and Igwe Goddy Mbakwe of Abacha.

Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress, Mr. Okelo Madukaife has blamed the insecurity in the state on the recent empowerment of traditional rulers by the state government.

The Anambra state police command have intensified their search by positioning security operatives at strategic junctions and bypasses in the state while searching vehicles as well as their passengers.

The Senate had started a process of creating a constitutional role for traditional rulers due to the strong arguments these traditional rulers made about their significance in the nation. They advocated the inclusion of traditional rulers in the membership of the national council of state, and the establishment of a national council of traditional rulers, as well as state council of traditional rulers in each state and Abuja.
