Increased security for Almajiri schools

Following increased attacks on schools In the North by Boko Haram, the Federal Government has provided increased security for the 155 Almajiri schools across the country especially in the northeast.

This was revealed by the Minister of State, Barr. Nyesom Wike.

The move was made because many students were dropping out of the schools due to the crisis.

He said that the schools were safe to open formally for academic work next month.

The federal government is also making efforts to make sure the programme is handled effortlessly by traditional rulers and state government after the handover.

In response to whether the schools could be breeding grounds for terrorists, he said that though the government was trying to ensure formal education, religious education is also important.
