The Resident Electoral Commission in charge of Akwa Ibom State, Gabriel Ada, has revealed that the Independent National Electoral Commission yesterday took delivery of 20 million permanent voter cards for the general elections in 2015.

The permanent voters card contains a micro-chip which will store bio data of every voter, and a readable card, which every registered voter will tender before being allowed to vote at the polling unit.

He also said the equipment would record the total number of people that were accredited and the total votes cast at each polling unit during elections

He added that the initiative would help to combat irregularities in the system and also check unhealthy activities of desperate politicians.

There's still much to be done, I agree. Rome wasn't built in a day. This should work up to some extent, I believe.
