Sports Ivory Coast President Rewards Players With €46,000 And A House Each

Ivory Coast president Alassane Ouattara has rewarded their victorious national team with cash gifts and properties following their triumph at the 2015 African Nations Cup.

The Elephants of Ivory Coast defeated Ghana last Sunday to win their second Nations Cup title, beating the Black Stars 9-8 via penalty shoot-out.

Each Ivorian player got a cash gift of €46,000 from their government, and in addition they also got a house each worth the same amount in value.

Meanwhile the coach who led them to victory in Equatorial Guinea, Herve Renard got more financial reward than the players.

The French tactician was handed a huge bonus of €114 000 for his efforts.

"Thanks to you, Ivory Coast is once more united," Ouattara said while hosting the team on Tuesday .

"You managed to rebuild a strong team working as one towards one goal - winning and winning more. It's a lesson in rallying people together," he said.

Tuesday was declared a public holiday in Ivory Coast to celebrate their Nations Cup victory, with the squad treated to a heroic welcome on arrival in Abidjan.
