A former deputy governor in Plateau State, Amb. Ignatius Longjang on Wednesday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Longjang, a deputy to former governor Jonah Jang, was received along with another former governor and now senator representing Plateau Central, Joshua Dariye, by the APC national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at the Jos township stadium.

Also received into the APC yesterday were the incumbent deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yusuf Gagdi, and many other new entrants.

The APC state chairman, Lateb Dabang, who announced the names of 17 major political leaders from the three senatorial zones who joined the party, stated that their defection followed due process.

Governor Simon Lalong, who spoke at the occasion, said the event marked the return of “who is who in Plateau politics”.

Welcoming the new members, Oyegun said despite the hardship in the land, the people of Plateau State had shown resilience and belief in the APC by supporting the Muhammadu Buhari administration.
