Professor Attahiru Jega, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has maintained his stance concerning the 2015 elections in North-East Nigeria.

Referring to the North-East,Jega said, "it is not desirable or ideal for the commission to hold elections where there are security challenges". He however expressed optimism that the security challenges being faced, especially in the country’s North-East, would be addressed before the 2015 general elections.

The INEC chairman also announced that the timetable for the 2015 elections will soon be released.
