In what is his first major individual award, John Ugo has been named the Best Foreign Player in the Israeli Premier League.

The award, which is voted for by club captains and coaches, saw the Nigerian pick up 64.2 per cent of votes ahead of second-placed compatriot and Be’er Sheva teammate, Anthony Nwakaeme, who polled 21.6 per cent, while Nikita Rokabitzih finished third with 14 per cent of the votes.

The two other players in the line up, Zambian Evans Kangwa and Argentine Pedro Galvan failed to score any votes.

The Nigerian has scored four goals in 33 matches so far as Hapoel Be’er Sheva remain in pole position in the championship playoffs.

They require a win over Bnei Sakhnin on Saturday to win the Ligat Ha’al ahead of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
