Metro Kaduna Commissioner of Education, Prof. Andrew Nok, Dies At 55

Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, Prof. Andrew Nok is dead, amid controversies surrounding the retrenchment and recruitment of teachers in the state civil servant.

Nok had been down with an undisclosed ailment, and was on admission at an Abuja hospital.

He was discharged last week, but passed on in the early hours of today, Tuesday, November 21st.

Prof. Nok was born 11 February 1962 in Jaba local government area of Kaduna state.

Andrew Nok was a renowned Professor of Biochemistry, with notable discoveries to his name.

He was the first scientist in the world to discover the gene responsible for an enzyme which causes sleeping sickness.
