Kano state's Commissioner for Justice, Alhaji Maliki Kuliya, has announced that the state has pardoned 370 prisoners in the last two years.
The releases were based on recommendations from the state’s Committee on
Prerogative of Mercy to the government. Most of the prisoners were set free on humanitarian grounds including old age and illness.
He stated that the Kano state government has spent over #12 million on prison facilities in the state.
Efforts are also being made by the government to update the courts in the state by purchasing computers to improve their efficiency.
