Kastina State Govt to give Free Healthcare to the Elderly,Disabled

The Kastina state government is set to give free medical services for persons with disabilities and those between 60 years and above who cannot carter for themselves.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, Mannir Talba, Kastina state commissioner for health said the sum of N3.2 million has already been released for a census exercise across the state, in order to ascertain the number of persons who fit the criteria.

According to him, the state already spends no less than N180 million annually for the provision of free healthcare for pregnant women, children below 5 years, psychiatry patients, renal dialysis, malaria and accident victims.

The commissioner, who admitted that the state is faced with challenges of health personnel, added that plans are underway to establish a college of medicine at the Umaru Musa Yar’adua University.
